Hosted by internet personality Andrew Gunadie, better known as Gunnarolla, the Game TV show will include an episode filmed in Stratford from August 13-15.

Local applicants aged 13-17 who believe they have the knowledge of pop culture to be successful can apply through the Virtual Audition Portal on the Pop Whiz website.

“It has been a difficult time, with many community events having been canceled or postponed,” executive producer Frank Bertolas said in a statement. “Pop Whiz offers the opportunity to inject some excitement.”

Run by Gunadie, who rose to internet fame thanks to the millions of views he racked up on YouTube, Pop Whiz is designed to deliver all the elements of a traditional game show in a pandemic-friendly format. It also amplifies “the wide variety of crops that make up the Ontario landscape,” according to the growers.

Filming in Stratford will take place at a location on Lakeside Drive.

“I am delighted that Pop Whiz and Carpe Diem Media have chosen Stratford as their filming location,” said Mayor Dan Mathieson. “I believe our community and its young people are exemplary and I can’t wait to watch the episode and cheer them on.”

In addition to Stratford, contestants will be filmed in five other Ontario communities in the summer of 2021: North Bay, Timmins, Thunder Bay, Cornwall and Kingston.

The show will air on Game TV in February-March 2022, the producers said.
